puppy tales

So this week, Jessa has a friend over...his name is Jack, and he belongs to our friend Brent. Jessa is not usually very good with other dogs, but there are a select few with whom she's made friends...Arleen's 2 black labs Caramel and Mac, Jen's sheltie Coda, a border collie that comes down the back alley nearly every day, and Jack (another collie). It's a very limited and therefore elite group.

We weren't sure how things would go with Jack, as they had met in person only a couple times this summer, when Jack was still pretty little (he's 9 mos old now), and Jessa was a bit overbearing and Jack would just hide behind our legs. But Jack's a lanky teen now, a bit gangly but as tall as Jessa and as soon as he arrived, Jessa and he took off and chased each other around the yard for 2 hours. So we knew it would be good at that point.

Jack's a great dog, he listens well, and only gets into trouble when he's bored, so the fact that he and Jessa can now entertain each other for hours in the backyard is great for both of them. So far they haven't had any fights or tiffs that I've noticed, tho some of their play gets pretty rough...they both come to the door panting and covered with snow from rolling around in it.

On another puppy note, Jessa is notorious for chewing the mats we put at the back door, so usually in summer/fall we don't have one there, but with winter snow on boots, it's been a mess so I bought another mat (just a cheap one, knowing its inevitable fate). A while back, we also bought an anti-chew spray for this purpose (Jessa never chews anything else but the mats), so I sprayed it on, and the first thing Jessa did was come over and lick the parts I had sprayed. Not a good sign, lol.... but so far she hasn't chewed it, and she was in her room for quite a while yesterday which is usually when she chews. So here's to hoping!

nice to know

This morning I did some internet banking...paid my Sasktel bills online, and added a new credit card number to my paypal account, as the old card had expired. I normally pay the phone bills with my bank mastercard, but decided to use my Canadian Tire mastercard today, as I had it out for the paypal stuff, and hey, I get CT money every time I use it.

Within 30 minutes of completing those transactions, I got a phone call from Canadian Tire financial services, they were just calling to check if I had made the above purchases this morning, they wanted to be sure my card was not lost or stolen....I was a bit taken aback by this call, but it's good to know that this "abnormal activity" (aka paying my phone bills and doing some paypal stuff....all with a grand total of under $150.00) was immediately noted and checked up on.
