Come one! Come ALL!!!

You are informally invited....

As many of you may know, the Sasktel Jazz festival is on right now across the province.....and in Saskatoon, there is this wonderful little thing known as the "free stage". It is down by the bessborough hotel on the riverbank, just to the North of the hotel. Basically, jazz/blues acts from all over are slotted for certain timespots, and get to play to their heart's content to the crowd that has gathered on lawnchairs, blankets, etc. out in the sun.

So this Wednesday, June 30 at 8pm - 10pm, a bunch of us are going to go down to the river to hang out and listen. The act that night is a young, local girl named Meagan Lane....she plays guitar and sings blues-ish music with a 2 piece backup band. But let me tell you! She is AMMMMMAZING! We saw her Friday night, and she blew me away. And she's only 16. But come see for yourself.....

So if you're interested, we're all just gonna meet down there...so bring blankets, chairs, etc.... and then we will probably head somewhere for coffee or ice cream or something after, since it's a holiday for most everyone the next day (except Brent....we understand that you have to be on duty to put out all the fires started by stupid people trying to BBQ on Canada Day and such....someone's gotta do it, eh?)

Okee! Hope to see you there!

oh happy day

well, in contrast to yesterday, today is a pretty good day.

actually, the good day started yesterday evening, after work and supper. Anthony knew I had had a bad day, so he gave me my anniversary present a day early - he got me a new set of golf clubs! My very own! Up to this point, i have always had to borrow my father's old ones, which are too big for me. So now my game should improve. If anyone's interested in going, just give me a call!

And i found out that i passed my music history exam, and as such, officially have my ARCT and can officially become a Registered Music Teacher (an RMT, just like Angie, but not quite!!). Now i know all of you thought i would pass just fine, but i honestly have to say that when i left that exam, i figured i had not done too well at all, and that i would probably pass, but just barely. So my just barely was a 78%, and now i'm done forever! woo hooo!!! now I'll probably go on to teach this stuff to innocent young children.....

And tonight, we are going to go to East Side Mario's for supper to celebrate our anniversary. Now I love this restaurant when I go in Calgary, so I just hope that I have the same quality experience here. Things sometimes suck when they come here from Alberta (i.e., Old Navy in Regina with its lack of selection...). So here's to a great day, and here's hoping that your days were great too!

stupid snotty nose

noone should have to suffer from a cold and a sunburn at the same time. it's impossible to regulate your body temperature...you shiver, but your skin is so hot from the burn that you can't put blankets on to warm yourself up. then your skin gets so hot you have to have a cold shower, which makes your cold feel even more miserable.

but on a happier note, here's an update on the car accident situation.
As of yesterday (monday), the other lady FINALLY contacted SGI to report her side of the story, and after hearing it, SGI ruled that the accident was 100% her fault. Thus, this accident should not cost us a penny, only the inconvenience of not having had a car for a few days. Now we have a loaner that is covered fully, so we can get around to work, etc. But the sucky thing is that we are limited to 100km per day, so i hope we get our car back by next weekend....(more on this later).

So thankfully, the frame of the car was not damaged. I guess GM makes their newer vehicles with 'sweet spots' - places that are designed to buckle on impact and specific parts that are designed to break in order to absorb the impact and protect important things (like the frame) so that the repairs are easier and cheaper, and so that there are less write-offs. Smart idea. So the car has about $5500 damage, and the body shop said they'd return it to us 100% as good as new.

As for next weekend (actually next next weekend...the 18th-20th), well, the 15th (Tuesday) is our 2 year anniversary, and we are going up to the lake for the weekend, to my parent's cabin. Looking forward to some good golfing, fishing, laying on the beach (WITH LOTS OF SUNSCREEN ON...I've learned my lesson!), campfires, and just good ol' TIME(s) with my husband....I still need to go get his present....i would say what it is, but on the slim chance that he may read this, i will not divulge that info here. He already has my present, it's hiding in the garage....I am being a good girl and am not peeking or snooping.

So here's to hoping that the next week goes by quickly, and i can get my first taste of the lake for the summer....we have a couple weddings to go to in June/July which will limit our cabin time, but we hope to get up there as much as possible this summer.....last summer we went at least every other weekend, i think. Unfortunately, because i just started the new job, i don't get official holidays (i.e. more than a long weekend off) until the fall....so we will have to do the best we can on weekends.

Oh, yes, and the jazz festival is coming up very quickly too...i love june! it's the start of everything summery....those hot evenings under the stars, the smell of the air....the coolness in the morning. Probably my favorite month, which is probably why i chose to get married then!

back to the 80s

hey, remember the 80s/early 90s when it was cool to walk around with rips in your shorts, usually just below the butt?

yah, well it's not cool any more, but that's what i had to do today. Somehow, somewhere, my capri pants ended up being ripped right across the back of the thigh. There was no dramatic "bent down and heard a rip" or anything....I was in the washroom and noticed that i could see right through my pants! And they're only a couple weeks old, so they shouldn't be worn through already! And they're not even snug or tight, that they should have given way like that.

So it was fortunate that i had a sweater that I could tie around my waist all day...but now i must leave here and get on my bicycle and bike down a very busy street with half my leg hanging out the back end of my pants.....maybe i'll just walk my bike.....but that raises the issue of the blisters on my feet from the (relatively) new sandals I wore today.....

oh well, what do you do?
